Invisalign Treatable Cases

Invisalign can be used to treat many different types of orthodontic problems, whether they involve just one or two teeth or every tooth in your mouth. Cases that can be treated include:

  • Gapped teeth
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crossbite
  • Underbite
  • Overbite

During your consultation we will evaluate your smile and set up a full study to evaluate whether your teeth can benefit from Invisalign with Dr. Folck.

Gapped Teeth

If your jawbones have grown beyond the size of your teeth, you often end up with gaps or spaces between your teeth. This is not just an aesthetic issue, because people with gapped teeth are at increased risk of periodontal pockets and periodontal disease.

Crowded Teeth

Tooth crowding occurs when your jaws are not large enough for your teeth, and is often a result of wisdom teeth emergence and/or impaction, especially if you postpone removal. Crowded teeth are also more than an aesthetic problem because they can be challenging to clean, resulting in plaque accumulation and increased risk of periodontal disease.

Crossbite is when your upper and lower jaws are misaligned horizontally. When this occurs, your teeth don’t align properly, which can make it hard to chew and it can result in serious tooth wear and chipping or cracking for the teeth that bear the brunt of abnormal chewing patterns.

Underbite is when your lower teeth stick out further than your upper teeth. In addition to chewing difficulties and wear or damage to your teeth, underbite can contribute to temporomandibular joint disorder, which can result in many painful symptoms.

Overbite is when your top teeth protrude over your lower teeth. Overbite puts excessive stress on the front teeth, resulting in chips and fractures.

If you have any of these bite conditions, learn more about candidacy for Invisalign on the page Is Invisalign for Me? For a consultation at our office convenient to Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia, please contact Michael P. Folck, DDS today for a consultation.
