How can I afford Invisalign?

Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA

If you have been thinking about Invisalign® in Virginia Beach, there is a good chance that you have questions about how much it costs for treatment. The cost of Invisalign® varies substantially based on the length and extent of treatment needed.

Because of this, it is impossible to provide a precise estimate without a thorough evaluation of your own particular smile and desired outcomes.

Paying for Invisalign®

While a beautiful smile can provide a priceless sense of self confidence, the cost of Invisalign® is something many people must weigh.

  • Insurance:  In some cases, you may be pleased to discover that Invisalign® is covered by insurance. Generally speaking, if your insurance covers orthodontics, Invisalign is included like traditional braces. However, insurance that does cover orthodontia is unusual.
  • Financing:  Fortunately Invisalign® can also be financed through CareCredit. Care Credit is a credit card designed specifically for health, beauty and wellness needs. Care Credit offers special financing terms that you won’t get from a standard credit card provider.

Are Invisalign Aligners Generic or Custom-Made?

Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA

Many people are turning to Invisalign® to help straighten out their teeth. These clear plastic aligners are preferred over metal braces which can be unsightly and very uncomfortable. The best way to ensure that an Invisalign® treatment is appropriate for you is to consult with our dentist and get fitted with a custom-made aligner.

While generic options are available, it is reported that these non-custom fitting models are bulky, ill-fitting and not as effective. These generic options are generally cheaper, but the custom-made aligners save you significant time and discomfort.

If you are interested in a custom made Invisalign® aligner to help give you a straighter smile, contact the professionals at Invisalign® Virginia Beach. We use computers to custom-design clear plastic aligners specifically modeled after your teeth and their specific needs. With only periodic visits  you can get the results desired without unsightly braces or retainers.

Can I Sleep Whilst Wearing Invisalign?

Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA

Invisalign® technology has dramatically altered our perception of what the experience of undergoing orthodontic adjustment can be. No longer are Virginia Beach-area residents forced to endure uncomfortable tightening appointments or the feeling of uncomfortable metal wires jabbing into their gums and cheeks.

Your clear plastic aligners will fit snugly and comfortably over your teeth while subtly shifting them to a more comfortable, natural and aesthetically pleasing position.

We have found that Invisalign® offers its best results when you wear your aligners for between 20 and 22 hours a day. This means that you can indeed wear them while you sleep.

The vast majority of our patients report no problems with their aligners while they sleep. Because the aligners are custom-designed for the specific and unique shape of your teeth, they don’t slip off.

We understand you probably have questions about how Invisalign® works and how your aligners will affect your life. We’re happy to answer your questions. And most of our patients find that their lifestyles are not meaningfully affected by their aligners.

Keeping Your Invisalign Trays Clean

Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA

If you have just been fitted for your Invisalign® trays, you may be nervous about properly maintaining them. Fortunately, Invisalign trays are quite easy to clean, and because you change out your aligner trays for a new pair approximately every two weeks, you get many opportunities to get the maintenance right.

The most important way you can keep your aligners clean is by putting them in your mouth immediately after you have brushed and flossed your teeth, when they have as little bacteria on them as possible. This prevents bacteria from building up inside the trays. One thing to remember when using Invisalign is that you need to be vigilant about keeping your teeth clean inside the trays, because any bacteria that gets caught in them will be stuck there until you brush your teeth again.

As for cleaning the trays themselves, brushing the interior with a soft-bristle toothbrush is a good way to scrape bacteria or food particles out of the inside. No toothpaste is necessary- instead, use the cleaning kit Invisalign includes with the trays.

Finally, you want to take your trays out when you eat. Rinse them out immediately after taking them off, and store them in a glass of water while you eat: mouth bacteria grow faster in dry environments. Once you have finished eating, brush and floss your teeth, clean the inside of the trays, and put them back in your mouth. Making this a habit will keep your teeth healthy and your Invisalign trays looking nice and clear.

Questions to Ask Your Dentist About Invisalign

Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth - VA

When you first decide to ask whether Invisalign is right for you, you will likely set up a consultation with Dr. Folck at his Virginia Beach dental practice. During this consultation, Dr. Folck will decide explain the Invisalign procedure, and you can ask anything you want about his method for carrying it out. It is important that you leave your appointment knowing enough about Invisalign to feel comfortable going through with it, and for this, you need to ask the right questions.

Some questions to ask your dentist before starting Invisalign:

  • How long will my treatment last?
The length of the treatment varies from person to person, but is usually 7-12 months.
  • Will my case require Interproximal Reduction?
Interproximal Reduction involves shaping your teeth to make them slightly narrower.
  • What happens if I lose an aligner?
Some plans possibly could let you replace a certain number of Invisalign aligners for free; others may charge you for losing aligners.
  • Are mid-course refinements and corrections included in the fee?
At the beginning of your Invisalign procedure, the dentist will have some idea of what your aligners will look like at every stage in the process. However, these plans may change if your teeth don’t respond as expected.
  • Do you offer post-treatment whitening?
After several months of Invisalign, you may find that your teeth will benefit from a whitening session.

At Virginia Beach Invisalign, we believe in tailoring our Invisalign process to the individual needs of each patient.
